About Me.

Hi! I'm Steven, I'm a business management student who loves learning new skills, supporting others, improving processes, and creating environments where everyone feels set up for success in their roles. I'm currently exploring a future in Human Resources with a focus on workplace inclusion, development, and culture.

My Story.

I grew up with values rooted in empathy, community, and standing up for what's right. As a first-gen Latino student, I've always been inspired by the people who supported me on my journey. Their encouragement sparked my interest in understanding people, workplace culture, and what truly helps others thrive.

My working career began at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, where I worked my way up to Food and Beverage Supervisor. In that role, I navigated customer service, daily operations, and supporting my team. Every day was different, and every challenge taught me something new about people, leadership, and what makes a work environment healthy, supportice, and equitable. That experience shaped my goal of becoming someone who not only helps an organization succeed, but who champions a positive workplace culture. 

At Columbus State, my current role as a Peer Career Leader in the Career Services Office pushed me into a new environment with new responsibilities. Supporting students, listening to their stories, and helping them feel confident in their next steps showed me how meaningful people-centered work really is. That experience made it clear just how much a workplace, and the support within it, can impact someone's life.

Career & Education Goals.

Right now I'm earning my Business Management degree at Columbus State Community College and planning to continue into a Human Resources program at WGU, and maybe even get my master's in Human Resources Management (if my brain doesn't clock out).

 

I want to explore a lot of areas in HR, such as:

Literally anywhere I can make work feel more human. My goal is to learn as much as I can while helping organizations actually support their people, whether that's through hiring, conflict resolution, payroll help, better processes, or just being someone employees can trust.
